Alice Kramer was the first woman to start and maintain a law practice in Jefferson County, Missouri. After graduation from the Washington University School of Law in 1974, she was hired by Brunson Hollingsworth and worked in general trial practice until 1990. In 1990 she opened her own office, handling both criminal and civil litigation. She eventually concentrated in the area of family law. Kramer and Hand was formed in 2000 after Alice Kramer's partnership with Julianne Platz Hand.

Juli Hand was born and raised in southern Minnesota in a farming community. After graduation from high school and completion of a technical school program, Juli moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Veterans Administration and then for a large private law firm as a legal secretary. Juli married and moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1984, where she worked as a paralegal with a large Omaha law firm for two years. She then followed her husband to Chicago, where she returned to school to complete her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Again relocating with her husband, she moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration/Management at Oklahoma State University in 1990. Juli graduated in the top 8% of her undergraduate class at Oklahoma State University, receiving High Honors.

Kourtney Lamb, a native of Iowa, moved to Missouri to study law at the University of Missouri in Columbia. During law school, she participated in Mock Trial, Mediation, Negotiation and Client Counseling competitions which honed her advocacy skills for the practice of law. She was Vice President of the Student Bar Association and a Student Ambassador. She graduated with her law degree in May of 2005 and joined Kramer and hand in August. Since then she has been practicing Family Law in Jefferson County.

Sarah Burton, originally from a small town in Illinois, earned a B.A. in English from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale before going on to attend law school at University of Missouri-Columbia.  During law school Sarah was active in the Board of Advocates, participated in Mock Trial and Negotiation competitions, and clerked for two criminal defense firms.  She graduated in 2005, earning her J.D., a Certificate in Dispute Resolution, and membership in the Order of the Barristers for excellence in courtroom advocacy.
